About GeoFeed

GeoFeed, a product of Vidar Networks, is a (beta) feed processing tool. GeoFeed is designed to help you quickly identify and extract geographical within the feed. A new feed is authored and returned that includes the identified geographical references within the item level category tag. To keep things simple (at least for the time being) multiple geographical references are handled with CSV or comma seperated values.

Future Plans

As we evolve the GeoFeed system we plan to expand it's geographical awareness, at this time the GeoFeed system can only identify cities and states within the United States.

• Improving identification accuracy.
  • Handle non-standard state abbreviations ie Wash. => Washington, Fla. => Florida
  • Handle nested city names ie New York, New York and York, New York
  • Evaluate word spacing between state and city references
• Offer an API version of the feed based tool
• Implement a URL shortening system similar to Durl or Phone Feeds. (implemented)
