Minnesota Orchid

It is no wonder the State of Minnesota selected this beauty to be their state flower. The Showy Lady Slipper grows naturally in marshy conditions. The impressive pink slippers stand out against their rich green foliage.

The warming spring sun becones the crocus through the dead leaves of seasons past. The brave crocus is the first to herald spring and encourage others from their slumber at the UofM Landscape Arboretum.

The branches reach to the sky as if to say "look at how beautiful we are." Draped in gold they are certainly breathtaking against the blue sky. It is a wonderful fall day at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.

They blow in the breeze like signal flags on a ship. The bright colors and the shape send a clear message "Prepare for winter, gather the acorns while you can."

Forest Through the Trees
kvwcreations posted a photo:
The grey bark of the pine trees act as a screen between the lawn and the yellow maple forest beyond. They compliment each other beautifully. I can't wait to walk through the golden forest of the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.

This bench sits among the hardwood trees at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. It fits so well with the surroundings, it feels comfortable. If I sit, will I be comfortable as I view the color of the hardwoods? Only one way to find out.

The cone flower acts as a throne for this painted lady. She is so deserving of a beautiful place to rest and take nourishment before she continues her work in the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum gardens.

This huge hibiscus was discovered in the green house at the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum when we were there on July 4th. The backlight of the sun made it pop like a firecracker.
